Fluvial Geomorphologist

SNC Lavalin Environment (SLE) is the environmental division of SNC-Lavalin Inc. - a global engineering and construction firm with offices across Canada, in over 35 other countries around the world and currently working in approximately 100 countries. In 2011, MDH Engineered Solutions became a member of the SNC Lavalin Group providing solutions to geoenvironmental, geotechnical, hydrogeological and environmental problems.

We are currently seeking a Fluvial Geomorphologist to join the team.

MDH Engineered Solutions, SNC-Lavalin Group requires a highly qualified intermediate to senior Fluvial Geomorphologist to join our dynamic team of scientists and engineers. Reporting to the Director of Geohazards and Geomorphology the Fluvial Geomorphologist will be responsible for baseline studies in fluvial geomorphology and hydrology for environmental assessments, hydroelectric projects, fisheries assessments, habitat compensation, in-stream flow monitoring, sediment studies and emergency response.

Qualifications:

•	Expertise in field assessments (installing weather stations, measuring stage discharge, stream surveys and bathymetric mapping);
•	Modeling and analysis experience including hydrological data analysis (flood or storm frequency analysis), 1D and 2D hydrodynamic modeling, River 2D or MesoHABSIM or similar, and GIS (ArcView preferred) experience;
•	Excellent writing skills;
•	MSc or greater;
•	PGeo or PEng (strong candidates who are GIT or EIT may be considered) in BC or Alberta.

Job Duties:

•	Conduct fluvial geomorphology and hydrologic assessments of natural and disturbed systems
•	Work with in-house staff including fisheries and engineering staff on multi-disciplinary assessments
•	Work with the Director to develop clients and strategies for future growth, write proposals, reports and technical memos;
•	Present results to clients, and as appropriate, write up and present results in conferences or scholarly journals
•	Supervise and mentor junior staff;
•	Must be able to initiate and safely run field based programs, including installation of hydrometric equipment, and conducting river and lake surveys.
•	May require spending extended periods in remote locations.
