Location: Saskatoon, SK Title: Project Estimator Job Description: Reporting to the Manager of Geotechnical Engineering, the Project Estimator will establish budgets, manage, and track actual costs relative to bid specifications during all phases as projects develop. The primary responsibilities will be to assist with or take the lead role in: Establishing project cost estimates and contributing to assembly of proposals prepared by MDH; Establishing construction cost estimates based upon design conducted by MDH; Tracking of ongoing project costs for reporting to clients in a timely manner; Evaluating staffing requirements for upcoming work based upon successful bid submissions; Review, preparation, and/or approval of contractor and subcontractor progress payments; Maintenance of historical cost and production statistics; Recognition of inefficiencies and consultation with project staff on potential project improvements; and, Tracking of bidding success and fiscal performance on projects. Job Requirements: Preference will be given to candidates with the following qualifications: Post Secondary Education - Two years minimum (technical school, university or trade certificate)along with five years’ experience in project management or field supervision; Between five and ten years’ experience in construction estimating; In-depth knowledge of environmental and civil construction methods and techniques; Clear and thorough understanding of RFQ/RFP general conditions, terms and conditions; Excellent organizational, writing, and planning skills; Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution and communication skills; and The ability to make timely and rational decisions under pressure.
